From the organizer, Africatown Community Land Trust:

Over the past several decades, more than 70 percent of the Central District’s Black residents have been displaced. Neighborhood restoration without displacement requires more than awareness. It requires informed action.

A healthy, flourishing Seattle depends on a thriving Black community. State of Africatown 2026 is a civic gathering for people who care about shaping the future of the Central District to ensure Black families and businesses can stay, own, and succeed.

This convening will ground participants in the real history behind displacement and highlight the community-centered solutions already underway.

If your work, influence, or values touch housing, land, culture, or long-term stability in Seattle, this is a room you should be in.

Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day

From the organizer, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance:

Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day (HHAD) is one of the largest annual lobby days at the state capitol in Olympia. Advocates gather from all over Washington to meet in person with their lawmakers and rally for housing justice.

No past experience is required! Our team of legislative district leads will guide you through the day, and you'll be invited to short trainings over Zoom before HHAD to get briefed on the bills we are supporting and how to effectively talk with lawmakers.

HHAD is hosted by the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and the Washington Housing Alliance Action Fund, and has strong presence and leadership from people directly impacted by housing injustice, including through the Resident Action Project.

Register for Housing & Homelessness Advocacy Day

Good to know:

  • This form will ask you for your State Legislative District number. This helps us put you in the right group for lawmaker meetings. Look it up at https://app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder and make a mental note of your State Legislative District number (not your Congressional District number). Most people register with the legislative district where they live, but you can also use the legislative district where you work if you prefer.

  • Registering a group? Save some time by using our group registration form, and consider applying for a transportation assistance grant to help bring your crew to HHAD.

  • ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided during check-in, at the rally, in lawmaker meetings, and at the virtual prep sessions before HHAD. Please let us know if you will use ASL or Spanish interpretation so we can be sure your specific lawmaker meetings have an interpreter.

  • Our friends at Waters Meet Action Fund are generously providing two buses to HHAD from Eastern and Central Washington as well as box dinners for the ride home. Riders can board in Spokane, Moses Lake, or Ellensburg. Wheelchair spaces are available. Sign up here for a free spot on the bus.

  • The Housing Alliance does not organize transportation for HHAD, but if you aren't able to catch a ride through one of the above transportation options, you can connect with other HHAD attendees to self-organize carpools here.

Have a Heart for Kids Day in Olympia (Children's Alliance)

Collage of photos of people holding signs with slogans about children in front of a government building

Activate your political power! Join us at Have a Heart for Kids Day in Olympia to advance early learning, health equity, and economic justice for children and families in Washington. Together with child advocates from across Washington, you will learn about the political process, speak directly with your elected representatives, and raise your voice at a powerful rally on the Capitol steps. Children and families are welcome!

Your voice matters, and legislators need to hear your perspective, but we know getting to Olympia isn’t easy. We’re committed to making this event accessible to diverse advocates across the state by providing financial support, meals, translation and interpretation services, and other resources as needed.

We are particularly interested in supporting and advocating alongside folks who represent or have expertise in serving children, families, and educators — especially those who are Indigenous, Black, or People of Color; speak a language other than English; are immigrants; live with disabilities; identify as LGBTQ+; are disproportionately impacted by systemic disparities.

Logos for ACLU Washington and Look2Justice against a blue sky with white fluffy clouds. The headline says It's Time: A Zine Launch Party
