What to expect: 

The first half of the event will be a research share-out, where we’ll walk through:

• New maps of lead and arsenic contamination in the region

• What we heard from community gardeners and farmers about soil contamination, testing, and safe gardening practices

• Key research insights and recommendations

The second half will shift toward community discussion and action. We’ve invited city and state representatives to join us for a Q&A, followed by a conversation about what should come next.

One major goal of the session is to begin developing a community environmental monitoring and sampling plan. Together, we’ll discuss which contaminants and exposure pathways are most important to investigate and identify priorities for future sampling. Your input will help shape the future direction of Sustainable Seattle’s Soil Health & Justice Initiative and inform future grant applications and research.
