The Common Acre
The Common Acre is a Native-led organization based in Seattle that serves urban Alaskan Native and Coast Salish communities and communities of color to reconnect them to land and culture. They work to advance Native cultural revitalization, land-based connection and healing, community-based environmental justice, and BIPOC youth development.
What they will do: Through this grant, The Common Acre aims to amplify the impact of their existing work to advance land stewardship and cultural revitalization in South Seattle. They do this by engaging local communities of color in Indigenous, land-based practices and how they intersect with Black and Indigenous traditions in agriculture and collective efforts fighting for land and water justice. In addition to expanding their existing programs, through this grant, The Common Acre seeks to deepen and formalize their partnerships to achieve their vision for Native communities and communities of color in Seattle, and grow the capacity of their team to further develop the programming that they offer to their community.
