From the organizer, People’s Economy Lab:
Lunch Labs are an opportunity to hear from local and national leaders who are advancing our vision of an economy that serves people, rather than people serving the economy. Each Lunch Lab features one or more guest speakers, includes time for Q&A, and engages audience members in breakout room discussions.
On August 20, we’ll hear from Alice Park, ERRA’s Research & Policy Analyst. In 2024, ERRA anchored a statewide Community Assembly with PEL’s support, which brought together BIPOC small business owners, advocates, and service providers in Tacoma and Spokane to discuss issues and propose solutions pertaining to BIPOC-owned small business development and the racial wealth gap. This was one of six assemblies in Just Future’s statewide pilot to improve economic and environmental justice among frontline communities.
Alice will speak to the importance of BIPOC community leadership and lived experience in decision-making and governance, as well as community control and ownership of funding, data collection and analysis.
