From the organizer, Communities of Rooted Brilliance

Communities of Rooted Brilliance (CRB) helps newcomer communities heal, grow, and thrive through our early learning, youth engagement, and family support programs. Communities of Rooted Brilliance will be hosting a community event on Wednesday, August 20th from 3 PM to 5 PM, at the Renton Library to connect community members with community health information and community building through art, with the first hour devoted to community health, and the second hour devoted to Art through Journaling with emphasis on mindfulness and mental health. 

We will working with Lee Che Leong, the Senior Policy Advocate from NoHLA (Northwest Health Law Advocates), an organization that has been working on expanding access to care and promoting health care justice in Washington state. She has agreed to present virtually at our community event on August 20th from 3 PM to 4 PM about community health, changes in healthcare due to the passage of HR1, hospital billing and financial assistance, and other topics that will be relevant to the communities that we work with.

Following up with that, we are also working with Amaranta Sallys of ArtMaranth Mobile School, a local artist who does really cool work with the BIPOC and newcomer communities in King County. She will be doing a in-person workshop after Lee Che's presentation at 4 PM to 5 PM about community art, healing, and mental health. 

The event will be held at the Renton Public Library on August 20th from 3 PM to 5 PM, as mentioned about it will be split into 1 hour being for Lee Che and community health info, and the other hour being Amaranta and community art. This event will be free of charge, so anyone who is interested is welcome to come and be a part!
