Maximizing Federal Funds for Local Equity: Lessons for Community Leaders

Urban Institute webinar Virtual Event

Over the past four years, communities throughout the United States have grappled with pivotal decisions about how to strategically allocate federal resources to foster economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic. The choices local communities make can either foster greater fairness within these localities or perpetuate entrenched disparities embedded within our nation's legal frameworks and programs.

Achieving greater equity necessitates that these funds are directed toward guaranteeing inclusive participation in and benefits from economic expansion, particularly for historically excluded groups.

Join the Urban Institute as we discuss lessons from communities that have directed federal funds toward inclusive recovery and equitable local economies. The event will feature a short film about the community impacts of federal funding in Rochester, New York, and will be followed by a discussion with policymakers and practitioners from across the country about successes and challenges in directing funding to promote equity.
