Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB)

2020 Award - Policy & Systems: $100,000. 2019 Award: $100,000. 2018 Award: $115,000.

SIHB will focus on addressing: (1) gender-based violence and the missing and murdered indigenous women crisis; and, (2) creating tribally driven behavioral health systems with culturally attuned and sustainable programming. SIHB will engage an expanding network of tribal, community, and government partners to build community connections that sustain our framework for local and state health advocacy efforts and address the chronic underfunding of trust and treaty obligations by the federal government and enforce the federal trust when federal dollars are divested from the state to the local level.

2020 Award - COVID-19 Resilience and Response: $50,000

The Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) will support COVID-19 related advocacy efforts to ensure adequate funding for the Indian healthcare system, community health centers, and public health in coordination with tribes and tribal organizations.
