BelRed Walking Tour: Exploring Code Opportunities for Housing

  • Meet at Angelo's of Bellevue Bellevue, WA (map)

From the organizer, Housing Development Consortium:

The BelRed neighborhood in Bellevue represents one of the biggest opportunities for housing in King County over the coming decades. With access to two new light rail stops and a robust existing arts and business community, the City of Bellevue is working to update the existing land use code to reflect changing conditions, remove development barriers, and add robust capacity for new housing and jobs. The growth in BelRed is expected to result in 23% of total housing target and 20% of the total job target for entire City of Bellevue in the current planning cycle. We want this land use code update to succeed and realize the Comprehensive Plan vision for this dynamic up-and-coming neighborhood.

Join HDC and our host, Charlie Bauman of GT Capital LLC, for an in-person walking tour on Thursday, 5/21 @ 9 AM to learn hands on about the many issues impacting housing and affordable housing development in the BelRed code. As the city continues to work on early code drafts and the update process gets started in the Planning Commission, we want to equip affordable housing supporters to understand the many elements of this dynamic new neighborhood, including: street grid networks, streams and critical areas, updates building heights and densities, the amenity incentive and affordable housing programs, and more.

Parking is available at the D'Angelo's of Bellevue. For questions, please reach out to Brady Nordstrom. More information: BelRed Walking Tour: Exploring Code Opportunities for Housing
