From the organizer, The Mockingbird Society. [Note, times were TBD at the time of this posting.]
Registration is now open at bit.ly/YAD2026. Join our Young Advocates with lived experience in foster care and/or homelessness for our annual lobby day!
WHO: All are welcome to be a part of Youth Advocacy Day!
Young people from Mockingbird chapters, local leaders, legislators, community partners, Mockingbird staff, lived experience experts, and community members are all invited to participate.
📣WHAT: Youth Advocacy Day is The Mockingbird Society’s annual lobby day, where we raise awareness of our advocacy topics and ask for legislators to support our advocacy agenda.
Our advocacy agenda items are shaped and influenced by young people with lived experience of foster care and/or youth homelessness.
Specific times/agenda TBD, but here’s a quick overview of the event: we will have a morning program, march together to the WA State Capitol Campus, split into groups to meet with legislators, gather for a rally, then march back to our venue to enjoy lunch together and spend time in community.
📆WHEN: Wednesday, January 28, 2026
📍WHERE: The Olympia Ballroom (116 Legion Way SE) & the Washington State Capitol Campus in Olympia, Washington
💜WHY: Because...
Young people in our state deserve stability, safety, and equitable opportunities to thrive.
Showing community support for the issues that matter most to young people with experience of foster care and homelessness builds momentum for lasting system change.
