Stories from the Streets

  • Seattle Public Library 1000 4th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98164 United States (map)

Welcome to “Stories From The Streets,” a powerful exhibit that invites you to get to know Real Change vendors — the hard-working homeless and low-income people who have been selling the Real Change newspaper on the streets of Seattle since 1994.

This rare exhibition of the Real Change Portrait Project features brand-new works alongside past portraits created by Seattle artists between 2014 and 2024.

Join us on Thursday, April 25 from 5-7 p.m. for a free opening reception. Featuring speakers from Real Change and light refreshments!

📰 ABOUT REAL CHANGE 📰
Seattle’s only street paper, Real Change is part of a global movement to address the root causes of homelessness and poverty through low-barrier work opportunities, community-centered media, and anti-capitalist advocacy.

Real Change is the largest street paper in the U.S. and one of the longest-running — covering local current events from politics to climate change and small business to healthcare, plus arts and culture.

Real Change is on a mission to create a just, caring, and inclusive community, where people are no longer marginalized by racism and classism and everyone has the means to live with dignity.
